Roy Hodgson admitted that there are no imminent signings due at Crystal Palace.

Speaking ahead of Palace’s trip to Liverpool, the Eagles boss said he was ‘not expecting’ any new arrivals.

“To say I’m expecting it, would mean I have a someone ready to sign, but that is not the case,” said Hodgson.

“I’m not expecting it (a signing).

"We’ve got two more weeks, work will continue to see if there’s any possibility that suits us, but nothing’s changed.”

Despite Hodgson’s admission, he was hopeful of recruiting players.

“Since the summer we’ve let five go and possibly a sixth, albeit players who aren’t playing regularly.

“But to lose that in your squad leaves you bare on the ground.”

One position that Hodgson confirmed they were looking for was in the attacking third.

Having seen their efforts for Dominic Solanke prove fruitless with Bournemouth stumping up the £19million for the striker, a loan signing seems to be Hodgson only hope.

“There’s no talk of buying, things can change but there is no talk of buying.

“We feel we need to improve in that area of the field.(Attack)

“We’d like a midfielder or a striker.

“Solanke, we pursued it to the extent we thought we could, but the club made a decision we couldn’t do the deal and I respected that.”

Asked of his opinion on the frustrating transfer window Palace seems to be having, Hodgson quipped:

“I’m not sure if I’m a fan or not, I’m too pragmatic, it is what it is.”
