Neil Harris hopes his side's Boxing Day win over Reading will ease the tension amongst the fans  as they host Nottinghsam Forest on Saturday.

Jed Wallace's free-kick was enough for the Lions to take all three points from a Reading side that played with 10-men for 80 minutes before losing another man two minutes from the final whistle.

The Lions dominated the opening encounters but Reading grew into the game even with 10 men and produced some nervy moments that led to a tense atmosphere inside The Den.

“They [The players] feel my frustration because they care and they want to do well and they know it has been hard for us so far, especially the last couple of months.” Harris explained.

“I hope it [The victory over Reading] gives us belief and momentum going into Saturday. It is a huge game against Forrest and it will be a good atmosphere because they are a massive football club and our fans will come out not just expecting us to turn up and win.

“I think it was difficult for everybody today, it was so edgy because there was so much at stake and people got carried away with that. On Saturday, I am hoping for a much more relaxed atmosphere within the stadium and my players will feed of that.

The win over their relegation rivals bumped the Lions up to 20th ahead of the visit from play-off hopefuls Nottingham Forrest on Saturday.

The Lions will be hoping the victory can be the turning point in their season and Harris believes they can use the busy festive schedule to kick-start their season.

“It gives us a chance to build momentum. We have three vital games in seven days and seasons can be won and lost at Christmas and Easter.

“We need to utilise these games and get as many points as we can. The League table looks healthier when you win today, you can see teams above you again. We have to follow it up on Saturday.

“I do not expect us to turn up and win on Saturday, I expect us to compete with Forrest and be as good as them, impose our game on them and grow from today’s results and the performance against Stoke."

Harris remained coy on whether he'll be triggering recalls for loanees Ben Thompson and Fred Onyedinma who are currently impressing out on loan at Portsmouth and Wycombe Wanders respectivly.

“All loan players are available for recall next week, Ben [Thompson] not for another ten or eleven days but all other loan players are available for recalls on the 1st of January and we will make decisions as we go.”
