Luka Milivojevic superb first half strike was enough to give Crystal Palace the points in a game of few chances at Selhurst Park.

The captains strike and a great stop late on from debutant goalkeeper Vicente Guaita handed Roy Hodgson’s men victory in a game where neither side wanted to keep possession.

Jordan Ayew started up front with Andros Townsend for The Eagles but in truth they both offered very little going forward and Leicester will leave thinking how they have got nothing from the game.

The opening half hour resembled the first round of a boxing bout.

Neither side carved out an opportunity and both were guilty of being loose in possession.

Then on 40 minutes up stepped Milivojevic. Collecting from Andros Townsend the captain took advantage of some lax defending and measured a curling effort to the far corner from 20-yards.

The captain, who by his own admissions is having an underwhelming campaign, looked relieved more than anything seeing the ball end up in the back of the net.

The second half provide little in terms of goal-mouth action. Jordan Ayew was guilty of fluffing his lines 15 yards out as his tame effort from a Townsend cut-back was easily block.

Leicester’s substitute Rachid Ghezzal came closest for the visitors but his effort screeched past Guaita’s post.

Guaita was called in to action again five minutes from time. Vardy was through but saw his effort superbly palmed on to the post by the keeper and rebound in to his arms. An incredible save that ultimately won the game for Palace as Leicester looked the more likely to get the game’s second goal.

Hodgson left the field punching the air after the result that lifted his Palace side to 15th in the league, five points clear of the relegation zone.
