If someone was to tell you that a Millwall centre-back would be involved in the same amount of goals as Harry Kane and more than Romeu Lukaku by December, you'd also expect them to tell you that Cardiff were top of the Premier League.

Nevertheless, the ex-Reading man enters the Christmas period being the most threatening defender in all four English leagues after scoring two goals and assisting seven so far.

There are rumours floating around that his teammates now call him ‘Ibrahimović’ due to his aerial prowess, and it is no surprise after all nine goals have been assisted or scored by Coopers head.

With that aside first and foremost Jake Cooper is a defender and he will be judged on his defending.

The Lions have conceded 33 goals so far which makes them third worst defence in the Championship, but Cooper’s threat at the other end of the pitch does excuse him from sharing the responsibility of Millwall’s defensive woes.

I am sure that in light of his attacking form, the 6ft”4 defender has been losing sleep over some of the goals the Lions have conceded.

Cooper is defiantly one of the Lions brightest assets and if he can continue being involved in scoring goals after the Christmas period and also start defending them a lot better then it will be hard for Millwall to keep hold of him for next season.
