The central defender was the pillar of the Lions defense last season, with him playing in all 46 championship games.

It was no surprise when he picked up the clubs player of the year for his efforts in helping Millwall in having the fifth best defence last time out, but this season is painting a different picture.

The old-school defender’s season was halted by a horrific knee injury away at Sheffield Wednesday in only the fourth game.

Hutchinson was setback six weeks with the injury and made a return two months later in the victory against Wigan in October.

Since his return the defender has failed to reach the same height of last season leaving many to question whether he is still fully fit.

Memorably, he was beaten far too easily by Birmingham’s Che Adams for their opening goal but then left the pitch with blood streaming down his face so the effort is still there.

More recently, Harris labelled him the ‘best player on the pitch’ against Bristol City after his man of the match display so maybe the dip in form was maybe just a blip. I guess we will have find out in the second half of the season where Hutchinson is expected to return to his best.
