Promotion talk is strong at The Valley from both fans and the management.

Following his side’s 3-1 win over Bristol Rovers, Lee Bowyer says his side have what it takes to get up to the Championship.

“We will be in and amongst it come end of the season, I’ve no doubt,” said Bowyer.

“I’ve a great bunch of lads and still got a lot of players missing. But we’re winning games.

“It’s tough but were sticking together and doing the right things.”

Goals form Jamie Ward, Joe Aribo and a 90th minute Karlan Grant break away strike, was enough to secure the three points despite Joe Martin’s stunning strike bringing the sides level in the first half.

The victory kept The Addicks occupying the final play-off spot, ahead of Blackpool on goal difference and Bowyer knows the importance of victories over teams languishing further down the table.

“If you want promotion, these are the games you have to win.

“You have to fight and compete for every ball. They’ve shown their togetherness, put their bodies on the line, and Karlan gets his goal at the end on the break. I thought we deserved to win.”

The victory comes after an international break where Charlton maintained active having a Checkatrade Trophy and an FA Cup replay fixtures.

Following their 5-0 win over Mansfield mid-week, Charlton’s form has given cause for optimism in East London.
