Wilfried Zaha tormented his former club Manchester United – despite not scoring – as Crystal Palace secured a vital point at Old Trafford.

The ex-Red Devil constantly asked questions of the opposition defence as the visitors searched for their first win in seven games.

Palace had several chances to take the lead, and nearly went in front before half-time when Cheikhou Kouyaté’s header was ruled offside.

But their best opportunity fell to Andros Townsend, got had only David de Gea to beat before steering his effort wide of the target.

Despite settling for a point, Roy Hodgson may well be delighted with how his team performed following the international break.

Here’s how Crystal Palace’s players performed…

Wayne Hennessey – 9 – The goalkeeper was colossal in goal and made various superb stops to deny United. Perhaps his best was when his outstretched hand thwarted a Romelu Lukaku header destined for the net. Man of the match.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 8 – Anthony Martial maybe got the better of him in during the opening 45 minutes, but after that he was solid. Very difficult to beat, as always.

James Tomkins – 9 – One of his best performances this season. Lukaku may be low on confidence – and goals – but he made him look remarkably average.

Mamadou Sakho – 8 – He overcame a back injury while on international duty with France to start, and he was instrumental to Palace’s fortunes once again.

Patrick van Aanholt – 8 – He should have at least hit the target with that opportunity in the first half, though his marauding runs put fear into United’s defence.

James McArthur – 7 – He combined well with Wan-Bissaka when necessary to help shore up Palace’s defence while contributing positively in attack. Performed very well in the wide berth.

Luka Milivojevic – 8 – Despite suffering a horrible foul from Marouane Fellaini, the skipper was a big influence in midfield. United struggled to get past him and Kouyaté at times.

Cheikhou Kouyaté – 8 – Unfortunate not to have that offside goal count when he headed in from Milivojevic’s free-kicks. Got up and down the pitch excellently.

Max Meyer – 7 – He had swathes of space to pull the strings once he was fed through from the defence or midfield. Gave United headaches throughout. Good showing.

Andros Townsend – 7 – The forward was fairly quiet in the first 45 minutes and had the best chance of the game during the second half. Paired with Zaha well. Replaced with Schlupp.

Wilfred Zaha – 8 – United couldn’t handle him at times. Despite not getting on the scoresheet, his presence was undoubtedly telling. Replaced with Ayew.
