Charlton will take nothing for granted against Bristol Rovers on Saturday after their 5-0 FA Cup win according to midfielder George Lapslie.

Despite the impressive score line, with goals from Lyle Taylor(3), Mark Marshall and Nicky Ajose, Lasplie said he knows it flattered the Addicks.

“Individually and collectively we can play better than we did (against Mansfield),” said the 21-year-old.

“Obviously happy we got the win and to be in the next round of the cup but as a squad, we can’t be complacent.

“If you look at that it wasn’t a 5-0 result. Fair play to Mansfield, they come with a strong team and gave us a good game.”

Lapslie praised Taylor who scored a hat-trick against the League Two opposition, including a sublime chip for his third.

Taylor will be missing from this weekends visit of Bristol Rovers through suspension but believes Nicky Ajose can step in to fill the void.

“Lyle putting the three in the back of the net, that’s the difference to us winning today and maybe not winning away at Mansfield. Lyle in my opinion is a step above. He’s a really good player.

“But Nicky is more than capable in the league and hopefully he performs as well as he has been doing in these games, it’s great for Nicky to get a goal and hopefully he’ll get another on Saturday.”

Bristol Rovers currently sit 21st in League One whilst Charlton sit sixth and Lapslie believes the current squad have enough to keep climbing the table.

“Bowyer said if we win individual battles, then we’ll win most games.

Especially with the quality we’ve got in our team.”
