Here's how the Palace players rated in their 3-1 defeat at Chelsea.
Wayne Hennessey – could do little for the three goal but made some fine saves in the second half. A fine save from David Luiz’s header will be one for the showreel. 6
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – up against it today and saw little from him in attack. Constantly pushed back by Alosno down Chelsea’s left but again, he didn’t look out of depth. 6
James Tomkins – A bad day at the office for both central defenders. Questions will be asked over all three goals and both Tomkins and Sakho will be needing some answers. 5
Mamadou Sakho – not the great day for the big centre back. After a good performance against Arsenal last week Roy Hodgson will be baffled by the uncertainty in the back line this time out. 5
Patrick van Aanholt – a willing runner and got forward at every opportunity. Lacked quality when he did get in the final third however. 6
James McArthur – a quiet day for the quiet man in midfield. A great pass for the assist but other than that he just went about his duties as he usually does. Somewhat stranded playing wide right, it was a tough day for the Scotsman who was kept honest by Alonso and Pedro down the flank. 6
Cheikou Kouyate – Largely a spectator for a lot of the game as Chelsea’s midfield seemed to pass around him at will. Looked out of sorts against a classy trio of Kante, Jorghino and Barkley. 5
Max Meyer – handed a start on the left wing and looked a little out of sorts. He’d like to play in a more central role but until he gives Hodgson proof he can cut it in this league he may not get the chance. 5
Luka Milivojevic – after two goals last week the skipper came back to earth with a bump. Will have easier days in this league but if you’re sloppy in possession like Milivojevic was today then it doesn’t help. 5
Andros Townsend – took his goal very well and looked the most dangerous player for Palace. Didn’t have much service and was far too isolated when he got in to good positions. 7
Wilfried Zaha – a frustrating day for the star. Didn’t get a lot of service and was swarmed by blue shirts at every instant. 6
SUBS
Jordan Ayew – some nice touches but never really threatened.
Jeffrey Schlupp - N/A
