Liz Ejupi scored four goals as Charlton Athletic beat winless Millwall Lionesses 8-0 at Princes Park.

Striker Ejupi scored three by half-time, as Millwall were unable to deal with Ejupi and Kit Graham’s partnership up front.

Goals from Lily Agg, Charlotte Gurr, Graham and a stunning long-range strike from April Bowers added to Charlton’s tally.

The win sees Charlton move onto 13 points, whilst Millwall are rooted to the bottom on one point after six matches.

Charlton dominated the first-half throughout, and Ejupi netted her first in the 24th minute after a clinical finish into the bottom corner after Millwall goalkeeper Chloe Sansom saved Graham’s header.

The floodgates then opened, with Agg scoring after some neat link-up play on the left-hand side, and five minutes later Ejupi bagged her second after pinching the pocket of Millwall centre-back Ylenia Priest.

Millwall then conceded two more just before the break as Ejupi wrapped her hat-trick with a composed finish into the bottom corner, and Gurr reacted quickest to Sansom’s save to finish into the roof of the net.

Despite Millwall making two substitutions at half-time, it was much of the same in the second period, with Bowers’ 35-yard piledriver into the top corner the pick of Charlton’s eight goals.

Graham set up Ejupi once again for the 24-year-old’s fourth goal, and Graham got the goal her performance deserved with a clever header into the far corner three minutes from time.

Millwall manager Chris Phillips said: “I thought we were good until the first goal went in. We spoke about it last week about those five minutes after we concede, and again we haven’t done well in those five minutes, so for me that’s where we need to improve.

“I thought we were better in the second half which gives me belief and inspiration in these girls.

“It’s frustrating that the girls have done everything right this week in training and we haven’t got any rewards on matchday.

“You do have to check yourself and remember what the average age of my team is. For a lot of them, this is their first experience of first-team football.”

Charlton Athletic manager Riteesh Mishra added: “I think we stuck to our game plan well. They played quite well for the first 20 minutes but because we managed the game in that period, and scored early, by half-time the game was done.

“We knew that confidence would play a big part.

“They’re quite a young team and they’ve come off a few difficult results so we knew that if we kept persisting, one goal might lead to another.

“They started to lose some confidence and stopped playing out from the back and scoring settled us down and it helped build our momentum for the rest of the game. I think collectively we looked like a strong, powerful team.”
