Two Luka Milivojevic penalties gave Crystal Palace a much-deserved point against Arsenal at Selhurst Park.

The captains' penalties either side of Granite Xhaka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang strikes sees Palace end a three game losing run in the league and lifts them to 14th in the table.

In contrast Arsenal’s eleven game winning run has come to an end thanks to the Serbians heroics.

Arsenal started brightly but it was the home side who had the best opportunities in the first half. On fifteen minutes Zaha, a threat throughout, picked the ball up at the back post but saw his effort strike the wrong side of the post and then going wide.

Palace did eventually take the lead through a Milivojevic penalty. Referee Martin Atkinson had no hesitation in pointing to the spot after Shkodran Mustafi felled Cheikhou Kouyate following a corner in first half stoppage time.

Unai Emery brought on Stephan Lichsteiner for Hector Bellerin at half time, and shortly after the break it was down the right a free kick was won from which they scored.

Palace were guilty of over playing at the back and conceded a free kick wide right. Up stepped Xhaka, who had been playing left back, and hit a thunderbolt to the far top corner leaving Wayne Hennessey helpless as he could only get a glancing glove to it.

Arsenal doubled the lead through five minutes later with a goal clouded in controversy. Replays showed that Lacazzette had handled from a corner which then fell to Aubameyang who bundled home at the back post with goal line technology confirming to Atkinson that the ball had crossed the line.

Palace went in search of an equaliser and came close through substitute Max Meyer who hit the crossbar shortly after his introduction.

A second penalty was awarded as Xhaka went from hero to villain as he clumsily fouled Zaha on 82 minutes. Milivojevic stepped up and his effort had too much power for Leno in the Arsenal goal.

Both sides went looking for the winner but a draw was a fair result in match that had no shortage of talking points and Roy Hodgson will be pleased with how his side battled back from 2-1 down.
