Charlton missed out on moving closer to a playoff spot as they shared the spoils with Oxford United in Karl Robinson’s return to the Valley.

It was the former Addicks boss’s first game back at the Valley since leaving in March, alongside Sheffield United loanee Ricky Holmes.

Lyle Taylor’s eight goal this season handed the hosts the lead shortly before the half hour before substitute Gavin Whyte struck the equaliser with 20 minutes remaining.

The draw sees the Addicks slip to 11th in League One as Luton Town leapfrog Doncaster Rovers into sixth.

Here’s how News Shopper rated Charlton’s players…

Jed Steer – 6 – Whyte’s strike was probably out of his reach, in all honesty. Oxford had their shots on goal but many of them were off-target.

Anfernee Dijksteel – 7 – The visitors had little joy down his flank, danger was largely down the other wing and through the middle.

Jason Pearce – 6 – Largely comfortable all game when confronted with pressure and partnered with Pratley well.

Darren Pratley – 6 – Used his physicality to throw off Oxford’s attack – and it worked quite well.

Chris Solly – 6 – Made a brilliant block on Gavin Whyte as the visitors broke on the counter. Holmes didn’t look too threatening up against him.

Josh Cullen – 6 – Had a nasty clash with Ricky Holmes in the second half which left him floored. Swarmed with players but coped fairly okay.

Ben Reeves – 7 – Went close with a free-kick and his deliveries just needed someone on the end of them. Replaced late on with Jamie Ward.

Joe Aribo – 6 – Had an excellent opportunity to test Simon Eastwood from close in but scuffed his lines. Some good crosses that, like Reeves’, went unmet.

Tariqe Fosu – 5 – His presence was a threat but the end product was lacking, a recurring theme for the team all night.

Karlan Grant – 6 – Not his most memorable performance and didn’t have a lot of joy. Tested Eastwood a couple times.

Lyle Taylor – 7 – The talisman gave Oxford a real headache, both with his shooting and creation of chances. Could’ve setup the second at times.
