Steve Morison came off the bench to score an 82nd minute winner as Millwall came from behind in an eventful second half to win 2-1 at The Den.

Jed Wallace’s own goal gave the visitors the lead but when Wigan missed a penalty in the second half, Millwall rallied and had one of their own that Shaun Williams converted.

Morison, off the bench, scored late on to steal the points and lift Millwall to 19th in the league.

The home side had the better of the first half but were guilty of wasting a flurry of chances. They were made to pay on the stroke of half-time as they gave away a cheap freekick on the right touchline.

The cross delivered by Lee Evans and somehow it was converted to the bottom corner by Wallace despite Kal Naismith trying to claim it.

Millwall started the second half like the first but it was Wigan who blew two golden chances to double their lead. Firstly a heavy touch from James Vaughan allowed Ben Amos in net to smother at his feet.

Then on 58 minutes Vaughan was adjudged to be felled by Mahlon Romeo inside the box, Josh Windass stepped up only to see his woeful penalty reach the travelling fans in the upper tier.

With Windass still hoping the ground would swallow him up, Millwall went down the other end and got a penalty of their own as Reece James was penalised for climbing over substitute Aiden O’Brien.

Williams, wearing the captain’s armband stepped up and gave Christian Walton no hope as he found the top corner to draw the sides level.

With their tails up Harris’s men went looking for the winner and it came on 83 minutes as Morison tapped in after some fantastic build up play from Aiden O’Brien and Lee Gregory down the left.

The visitors went searching for an equaliser but with all their substitutes used and Nick Powell seemingly injured, they were effectively playing out the game with ten men.

The home side could’ve extended their lead late on but a Gregory effort was deflected over after some neat footwork to create the space.

Millwall held on for a win that will ease the pressure on manager Neil Harris ahead of Ipswich’s visit on Saturday.
