Substitutes Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun scored twice in 120 seconds as Crystal Palace succumbed to a late defeat at Everton.

Marco Silva introduced the pair late on as his side hit twice in the 87th and 89th minutes respectively to claim all three points at Goodison Park.

Captain Luka Milivojevic had the chance to score on the hour after Wilfried Zaha was brought down by Seamus Coleman in the box, but Jordan Pickford was equal to it.

Palace have now lost back-to-back games as they slip to 15th in the Premier League behind West Ham United.

Zaha passed a late fitness test to start as Roy Hodgson made just one change from the team which lost to Wolves before the international break.

The hosts asked questions early on as Everton had the better of the opening exchanges in the Sunday afternoon clash.

Richarlison, who had four goals in six games heading in, was yards from goal before being thwarted by James Tomkins while Seamus Coleman left fly from distance.

Their best chance arrived when Wayne Hennessey smartly pushed Gylfi Sigurdsson’s shot behind after a slick one-two with the Republic of Ireland full back.

But Palace engineered their own scoring opportunities as Tomkins nodded wide of goal before Cheikhou Kouyaté’s goal-bound header smashed the crossbar.

A first half largely in Everton’s favour drew to a close when Richarlison and Sigurdsson both went close.

It was much the same after the break, though Luka Milivojevic found himself on thin ice with a yellow card as he hacked down Richarlison late.

Despite Everton’s dominance, Palace were handed a lifeline when Zaha was clipped in the area by Coleman as referee Anthony Taylor pointed to the spot.

But Milivojevic’s chance to score his first league goal this season was denied as Jordan Pickford was equal to his penalty, hitting it straight down the middle.

Soon after, Hennessey’s heroics prevented Theo Walcott his third Premier League strike this campaign after a one-on-one opportunity with the Wales international.

Palace continued to try and find chances on the break as debutant André Gomes went close for the opener in his first Everton appearance.

The visitors’ resistance was finally broken when Silva’s substitutes combined – Lookman’s searching cross found Calvert-Lewin to head past Hennessey.

Palace were still reeling from the first and conceded again as Cenk Tosun, who also started on the bench, got through on goal to hit the second.

Long-term absentee Connor Wickham was brought on for James McArthur soon after Everton doubled their lead, but it was too little too late for the Eagles.
