Millwall came from behind for the second game in a row as they beat Aston Villa 2-1 to end their eight-game winless run.

Tammy Abraham opened the scoring after seven minutes when he got in front of his man to meet a Conor Hourihane free-kick.

Millwall then grabbed a goal of their own after Jake Cooper headed back across goal to find Shane Ferguson unmarked in the box.

Ferguson was at the thick of it again when his corner was converted by Tom Elliot to turn the game on its head and put Millwall in front and bring the Lion’s out of the relegation zone.

Here is how News Shopper rated Millwall’s players

Ben Amos – 6 – Judged the ball well in wet conditions to collect several zipping low crosses. Could not do much about the opening goal.

James Meredith – 6 – Sat deep to quell the threat Elmohamady poses on the right side which allowed Ferguson and Gregory to link up further down the pitch.

Jake Cooper – 7 – Defensively sound as always and was a constant threat in Villa’s penalty area from set pieces despite being double man-marked.

Murray Wallace – 6 - Switched off for Villa’s opening goal and allowed Abraham to get in front of him. Typically, another quiet game from the former Scunthorpe man.

Mahlon Romeo – 5 – His sporadic bombs forward were mistimed which meant that M. Wallace was left vulnerable on the counter.

Shane Ferguson – 8 – Did well to find space in the area for his goal and his set piece deliveries were pitch perfect.

Shaun Williams – 6 – The Ireland international did well to meet a Shane Ferguson corner which hit the underside of the bar. As usual he dictated play for Millwall.

Ryan Leonard – 6 – Hard tackles and good work rate is what Millwall fans demand from their midfielders and that’s what Leonard gave them all game.

Jed Wallace – 6 - His pace caused problems all over the pitch but his end product in the final third is what stopped him having a bigger impact on the game.

Lee Gregory – 8 – Was Millwall’s stand out player, his usual runs in behind and hold up play caused problems for Villa’s defence all game.

Tom Elliot – 7 - A nuisance for both Villa centre halves who struggled to win any aerial duels, had one chance and put it away. Overall a solid performance.
