Reports have emerged that former Arsenal owner Alisher Usmanov is to buy debt-ridden Charlton.
Usmanov recently cashed in his 30 per cent stake in the Gunners and is prepared to plough the windfall in to the club currently owned by Roland Duchatelet.
The billionaire from Uzbekistan is said to have pocketed £600million from the Arsenal deal and thought to be keen to use the money to propel the Addicks back to the top flight for the first time since 2007.
A Charlton takeover looked promising last year when an Australian consortium showed interest, but Duchatelet’s valuation of the club collapsed the deal.
Charlton fans have voiced their protests against Duchatelet since his arrival in 2015 and are keen for a new man at the helm.
The latest protest sees calls for Charlton fans to march upon the EFL league offices in London next Friday in hope of official intervention.
Despite the off-field issues Lee Bowyer’s side, who’s appointment was recently made permanent, currently sit 10th in league one.
