Frankie Sutherland and George Porter helped Bromley complete a thrilling late comeback following a dramatic final few minutes at Maidenhead United to share the spoils.

The visitors scored twice in injury time to claim a point at York Road in Berkshire, fighting from two goals down to draw level with the Magpies.

Adrian Clifton and Josh Kelly netted either side of half-time before substitute Sutherland converted a penalty and Porter hit a decisive finish – both after 90 minutes.

The draw means the Ravens have are unbeaten in their previous four Vanarama National League games following a 4-0 victory over Havant and Waterlooville.

Neil Smith’s men made the nearly 59-mile trip to Maidenhead following a 5-2 defeat in the same fixture on the final day of last season.

In the first-half, skipper Roger Johnson couldn’t quite meet a Frankie Raymond delivery on 22 minutes as Bromley began asking questions of the hosts.

Their goalkeeper Carl Pentney was called into action through Marc-Anthony Okoye and Porter but laid claim to both efforts eventually.

But Maidenhead went in front just past the half hour when Clifton dispatched a Kelly flick-on in a combination to beat David Gregory.

While the Ravens nearly responded quickly through Omar Bugiel, it was soon two-nil as Kelly evaded his markers to finish with a powerful effort.

Sutherland was thrown into the fray by Smith, shaving the crossbar with a free-kick, but it was when Okoye was brought down in the box by Jordan Archer he would be called upon.

The substitute stepped up from 12 yards out to fire past Pentney into the bottom corner – forcing a glimmer of hope.

Then, as Maidenhead were still recuperating, Gregory launched a hopeful ball, flicked on by Johnson, that enabled Porter to rip a top-corner finish.

Despite conceding a late free-kick which threatened to undo all Bromley’s hard work, the visitors held on for the draw.

Neil Smith’s men now host Barnet at Hayes Lane during midweek in their next Varanama National League clash.
