Oliver McBurnie helped complete a dramatic late turnaround as 10-man Swansea City fought back from a goal down to beat Millwall at the Den.

The Lions got in front when Murray Wallace headed home from a corner after Championship debutant Courtney Baker-Richardson was sent off inside five minutes.

Despite a miserable first-half which was compounded by skipper Leroy Fer’s injury, substitute Kyle Naughton hit an equaliser before McBurnie dealt the finishing blow.

Millwall have lost at home in the league for the first time this season, as they now have five points from their opening six fixtures.

Neil Harris brought in Wallace for the injured Shaun Hutchinson at the back while Ben Amos was favoured in goal ahead of Jordan Archer.

The opening exchanges got off to a heated start when Baker-Richardson caught James Meredith with a reckless challenge in front of the two dugouts.

There was no hesitation in sending him off as Swansea were dealt a massive blow just moments into the game.

They were hit with more bad news when Fer, who landed awkwardly after challenging for a header, was withdrawn for Naughton on the half-hour mark.

Martin Olsson would be another casualty, though the half’s best chance came when Jed Wallace latched onto a Steve Morison knock-down – only to fire wide.

Swansea were able to withstand heavy pressure from the hosts up until 62 minutes when Jake Cooper headed back in Williams’ corner, enabling Wallace to head home, for the lead.

They nearly grabbed a second when substitute Jiri Skalak fired a searching ball across goal that was narrowly missed by Ryan Tunnicliffe at the far post.

Harris’ men attempted to reply, coming close through Skalak and Lee Gregory, but they went behind as substitute Jefferson Montero squared McBurnie following a swift counter-attack.

Both Tom Bradshaw and Tom Elliott came on late as the latter thought he had scored when he glanced a header onto the bar but the ball didn’t cross the line.

Swansea held on to win as the Lions now head into the international break on the back of three consecutive league defeats, with a huge clash against Leeds United coming up.
