As the transfer deadline approaches Lee Bowyer calls for patience as work is being done to bring in two new faces.

The Addicks caretaker boss is hopeful the deals will be pushed over the line before the 5pm Friday deadline as he explained the delay.

“We were hoping to bring in a player at the start of the week but the club we’re loaning him from said, ‘Look, we need him for the cup game’.

“I’m still confident we’ll bring him in, the deal is all in place, so we’ll hopefully sort everything out after the cup game.

“We just need to be patient to get the quality of player we really want."

Bowyer added: “There is another one [player] we are negotiating with at the moment.”

Charlton travel to Southend United on Saturday currently sat 14th in League One.
