Player ratings from Charlton’s 2-1 defeat to Sunderland...
Dillon Phillips - 5 - Made a fine save to stop Josh Maja just before the break. But he was beaten at his near post for the equaliser.
Chris Solly - 7 - Took a nasty whack to the head and carried on playing. Warrior.
Patrick Bauer - 6 - Backed off from Maja for the goal. He was faultless before that.
Jason Pearce - 7 - His leadership shone through today. Hopefully his injury isn't serious.
Lewis Page - 6 - Marauded up and down the left flank throughout the game and offered Charlton width. Struggled at times against Lynden Gooch, though.
Mark Marshall - 7 - He wasn't a regular starter under Lee Bowyer last season - and today he showed why he should be. He ran at his marker at every given opportunity.
Darren Pratley - 6 - Not a bad performance for someone who wasn't fully fit. There’s more to come.
Joe Aribo - 9 - Started almost every Charlton attack and dominated the midfield. Charlton must keep him. Man of the match.
George Lapslie - 7 - He’s done enough to keep his place in the team. Playing at the tip of the midfield diamond, he was hugely impressive.
Karlan Grant - 8 - Another youngster who starred for Charlton. Won the penalty. His paced terrorised Glenn Loovens.
Lyle Taylor - 7 - Never gave Sunderland’s defence a minute’s rest in the first-half. He ran out of steam in the second-half. Well-taken penalty.
