Millwall kept their play-off dreams alive with a scrappy 2-0 win over struggling Nottingham Forest in a Good Friday win at the Den.
It only took 26 seconds for Shaun Williams to find the back of the net after a whipped-in cross by Ben Marshall.
The Lions would later double their lead past the half-hour mark when Steve Morison headed the ball across the face of goal to present Lee Gregory with an easy finish, leading to a rather comfortable three points.
Here is how News Shopper rated Millwall’s players …
Jordan Archer – 6 – Was tested every now and again, often called into action, but did not was not made to sweat too much. Helped by a solid defence in front of him.
Mahlon Romeo – 8 – Impressive. Hardly let his opposition number have reprieve, shut down his side of the field, and looked highly composed under pressure.
Shaun Hutchinson – 7 – Rarely, if ever, looked doubtful and met everything with aplomb – much like defensive partner Cooper. Another consistent performance.
Jake Cooper – 8 – Could have made it 3-0 at some point in the second half, but was a large reason (literally) for the Nottingham attackers’ miserable afternoon.
James Meredith – 7 – Looked a little shaky in the first half but began to grow into the game, warranting deserved praise. Solid.
Jed Wallace – 8 – A little unlucky at times to not be rewarded for his efforts, worked tremendously hard and fashioned chances for Millwall where possible.
Shaun Williams – 7 – Will feel hard-done by still to not be in the Ireland squad, but showed why he deserves a chance. Great goal, but very poor challenge on Lee Tomlin.
George Saville – 7 – Good performance. Made his presence known with Williams in midfield, despite the scrappy affair with Watson leading to his yellow card.
Ben Marshall – 10 – Involved in both goals and was Millwall’s main threat going forward, also contributed very well at the back with Meredith. Man of the match.
Steve Morison – 9 – He didn’t score, but he didn’t need to. Led on both ends of the pitch, despite the booking. Great assist to Gregory for the second goal.
Lee Gregory – 8 – Looks like he’s continuing to gain confidence in front of goal, one of the easiest finishes he will have this season. Put in some hard yards.
