Karl Robinson says Charlton are not set to agree a fee with Brighton for Ezri Konsa.

On Thursday, a national newspaper claimed the young Addicks defender would make an £8m move away from the Valley on the weekend.

But Konsa travelled with the Charlton squad to Blackpool today - and would have played if the game had not been postponed.

When asked whether Brighton had lodged a big money bid for the England Under-20 international, Robinson said: “That’s not true.

“You worry about all your talented players. You just never know what could happen.

“The unpredictability of the game is what it is, but all those five or six Premier League scouts that were here to watch him today... it’s a shame!”

Charlton signed highly-rated Crystal Palace winger Sullay Kaikai on loan yesterday.

He is the Addicks’ fifth loan signing of the season, which means the club will not look to bring in a sixth before the transfer window closes on Wednesday.

Rules state that each club can have a maximum of five loan players in their matchday squad.

Robinson added: “If we were to lose anyone now, we’d have to bring in a permanent signing. Would we have time? That’s a difficult one.

“We’re very happy with Sullay. I just spoke to one of the Under-18 managers at Blackpool, who worked with him at Shrewsbury, and he said Sullay was one of the best players he'd seen at that particular time.

“We know the quality he’s got. Michal [Zyro] has trained really well and he’s impressed me. Josh Magennis has trained outstandingly well this week so there’s pressure for places.”
