Charlton have re-signed Arsenal striker Stephy Mavididi on loan until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old made five appearances for the Addicks last term before suffering a season-ending hamstring injury.

Mavididi regained his fitness in the summer, and while Charlton were still interested in signing him again, he opted to move to Preston.

But he managed just three league starts for the Championship club and his loan spell was cut short to join Charlton for a second time. On Monday, News Shopper revealed the Addicks wanted to bring the England Under-20 forward back to SE7.

Valley boss Karl Robinson said: “I am really looking forward to working with Stephy again. He is such a talented player and we only got to see a glimpse of what he could do last time he was here.

“I’ve watched him a lot since he’s come back from injury and he is a phenomenal talent. I don’t think it is any secret that we wanted to bring him in over the summer.

“The fans will have seen how quick, powerful and skilful he is from his first spell with us. He is a Championship quality player already and he comes to Charlton now with a point to prove.”

Mavididi added: “I’m looking forward to coming back and enjoying my football again. I want to pick up where I left off at Charlton and help the club to achieve promotion.

“I really enjoyed my time here last season and, for any young player moving club, it is always easier when you go somewhere that you know people and I hope that I can settle back in straight away.”
