Charlton boss Karl Robinson says he won’t lose sleep over abuse from AFC Wimbledon fans.

The Addicks travel to Kingsmeadow hoping to advance to the third-round of the FA Cup on Sunday.

Dons supporters directed angry chants towards Robinson, who managed arch rivals MK Dons for six years, during a league game in October. Charlton came out on top thanks to a late Ricky Holmes free-kick.

Ahead of the second-round tie, the Liverpudlian told News Shopper: “AFC Wimbledon’s team is full of fighters who care about playing for the club.

“They've got a really good team and manager and at no stage have I questioned anything they do.

“It’s down to the fans who they decide to sing for or against. I’m not going to lose too much sleep.”

Sunday will mark the first time Robinson returns to Kingsmeadow since being confronted by a Dons employee in February.

At the time, the former MK Dons chief said he was “appalled” with the actions of the staff member, who had overstepped the mark.

Offensive banners with Robinson’s name were also on display.

When asked if he expected heightened security measures given last time’s events, Robinson said: “You shouldn't expect that - it’s a football game.

“So if AFC Wimbledon feel it’s necessary then they’ll feel it’s necessary.

“Listen, the criticism we get is part and parcel of football. The bit you don't like is when people criticise somebody without knowing them.

“We get judged from an external view by how we are in our workplace. We all have a different head on at work than we have at home with our families.

“I don't want to disrespect anybody but when I’m at work, I’m here to win - and that’s it. Whatever it takes to win I’ll do.

“You can certainly count me out of managing AFC Wimbledon! I don't think I’ll ever be welcomed there.

“People don't realise the respect I’ve got for what they've achieved, the staff they have at the football club and players. We have tremendous respect internally.

“There are certain clubs that have a villain and I’m certainly theirs.”
