Karl Robinson is planning to talk to Charlton trialist Cameron Stewart about his Valley future.
Stewart, 26, started training with the Addicks last month to improve his fitness. The former Manchester United trainee has been without a club since leaving Ipswich last summer.
And he impressed in Charlton’s 3-0 win against Welling on Saturday, setting up two goals.
But Robinson wants Stewart to get fit before offering him any sort of deal.
He said: “We’ll sit down and have a chat with him but he’s still a long way from being fit.

“His delivery has been outstanding, his fitness levels are getting nowhere near where they need to be, if I’m being honest. He knows that.
“With the way we are going to play this year, we need wingers and we want players to score goals. He’s got as good a right foot as you’re going to get.”
One notable Charlton player who missed the Welling friendly win was Nicky Ajose. The striker joined Bury on a season-long loan on Friday.
Ajose failed to meet expectations from Charlton chiefs and fans after scoring just seven goals before being loaned to Swindon in January.
Robinson wanted to keep the striker, who is a proven goalscorer at League One level.

He added: “I spoke to Nicky and said ‘it’s up to you if you want to play for Charlton’, he had a door open and he wanted to go and play for Bury.
“I want players who want to be here. I’m not going to make any apologies for that. He worked hard in pre-season and he felt his career was better off somewhere else for the rest of the season.
“I said to him that he could stay, he’s a goalscorer and we need one to make sure Lee Novak, Tony Watt and Josh Magennis are pushed.”
