Charlton will monitor the fitness of Patrick Bauer before this weekend’s clash with Rochdale, Russell Slade has confirmed.
The German defender endured a difficult time with injuries last season and has suffered a minor hip problem this week.
But Slade could have summer signing Jason Pearce back at his disposal for Saturday – the former Wigan and Leeds man missed the Addicks’ last two fixtures.
Slade said: “Patrick Bauer has picked up a bit of a hip strain, so we'll have to monitor him.
“We hope that Jason Pearce will train with us today. He is a possibility to be involved on Saturday.
“We’ll assess everyone before making a decision on the 11 for Saturday. Whatever the 11 is, they have to provide that reaction.”
Slade’s side have not won in the league for over a month and suffered late disappointment at home to Oldham on Tuesday.
The South Londoners took the lead through Northern Ireland international Josh Magennis but had to settle for a point after Peter Clarke’s 82nd-minute equaliser.
Slade, 55, reiterated his frustration with the performance which left Charlton 12th in League One.
“The big factor for me on Tuesday was game management - with and without the ball. Our choices as a group were really poor,” he added.
“That's where we need to be better. It is our job to look at it and analyse it and make sure that we are improved on Saturday.
"We have to react and respond. It's simple. That is what it is all about in this game.”
