Charlton have signed former Wolves and Ipswich Town man Kevin Foley on a short-term contract.
Foley, 31, has put pen to paper on an initial five-month deal after being involved in Charlton’s pre-season schedule.
Manager Russell Slade insists the Irishman strengthens his squad ahead of the League One campaign which starts at Bury on Saturday.
The 55-year-old told the club website: “Kevin has a huge amount of experience and knowhow and that will be invaluable to us in this transitional period.
“He has a first-class attitude, has been a model professional since he began training with us and he is a brilliant influence on our younger players.
“He can play in a number of positions and I am sure that he will prove to be a very good acquisition for us.”
