Premier League champions Chelsea are keeping tabs on Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann ahead of a potential transfer move, reports say.

The Blues are said to be in search of English reinforcements with the club losing the majority of their home-grown contingent in recent years.

According to the Daily Mail, Jose Mourinho remains keen on bolstering his squad with the signing of a centre back but understands that prime target John Stones is unlikely to leave Everton with Roberto Martinez adamant not to lose the England international.

Consistent Palace defender Dann, 28, is now said to be on the west London club’s radar as Chelsea continue to plan for John Terry’s retirement after his 21-year stint at Stamford Bridge.

Dann has matured into one of the most dependable defenders in the top flight and is enjoying the best period of his career under Alan Pardew in south London.

The Premier League giants are also believed to be monitoring Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, Spurs’ Danny Rose, West Brom forward Saido Berahino and Birmingham star Demarai Gray.
