OUR daughter has just come through almost 12 months of pain, fear and worry.
Our pride in her knows no bounds for her fortitude and resilience throughout.
She has written the following poem, which may be of help to others.
We would be so proud if you could print it for her.
Ron and Sheila Caulfield, Top Dartford Road, BR8
Afraid to mention the dreaded C word?
Afraid of cancer, don't be absurd?
Invasive disease found in my breast, My strength, my resolve put to the test.
Facing the battle, head on all the way.
Just being grateful to greet each new day.
Embracing my loved ones, like never before, A scar to remind me I'll win this war.
My family, my friends are the troops by my side.
Their love and compassion, fills me with pride.
Looking into the face of my dear little boy, My hero, my saviour, his mum's pride and joy.
Has made me determined for them all to be strong, Armed with my bandana "bring it on, bring it on".
So I'll wear my good perfume, not save it for best, And never give in to this unwelcome guest.
Be thankful to God for the mercy he's shown, To enjoy every moment and try not to moan.
Taking pleasure in being a mother, a wife, And striving to win my race for life.
Sam Butler
Breast cancer survivor
For all my family and friends who have made this journey with me
