THE words put into the mouth of God by Leslie Waller (News Shopper, February 22) are not to be found in any bible translation I have consulted.

I think Mr Waller is confusing two Hebrew words, Toevah, translated as abomination and Zimah, meaning wrong or sinful.

In the old testament, homosexual lovemaking is never called sinful. The word abomination means ritually unclean' (like eating pork).

Jesus had a lot to say about putting more emphasis on rules than on human kindness.

People who read the Bible superficially can get the wrong impression of its meaning. God expects us to use the brain he gave us, remembering the Bible was not written in English, so we have only translations to go on.

We should read the Bible in context. We are answerable to God every time we make his love too narrow by false limits of our own'.
