I HAVE every sympathy for Brian Dawe and his feelings about paying for the Olympics (Pensioner Wants To Fight 2012 Tax, News Shopper, February 22).
We should not have to make any contribution towards the cost.
Most Olympic Games have actually lost money.
And if our attempts with the new Wembley Stadium are anything to go by it may well be the same for the London Games in 2012.
Even if it does make a profit the boroughs of Hackney and Newham will probably be left with stadia which are white elephants.
As for those of us living in Bromley, (even in a best-case scenario) I can see no benefit whatsoever.
