GAMES DISCOUNT?: Over the past two months, I have read with great interest many letters for and against Londoners having to pay a levy with no choice towards the cost of the 2012 Olympics. As a Londoner having to pay this levy for many years to come, will I be receiving free or discounted tickets to the Games or will I have to pay the same rate as people living outside of London who will not pay a penny towards the cost of the Games? Maybe someone could answer this question as my letters to Old Bexley MP Derek Conway and Ken Livingstone have very conveniently been ignored.

MIRACLE NEEDED: Regarding Hospital In Crisis (News Shopper, March 1). Linda Piper's report about Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup, makes very sad reading. Personally I feel sorry for Ms Grimes who has stepped into a far greater cash crisis than she knew of. Undoubtedly, there will be areas in which savings can safely be made, but to achieve £13m requires a major miracle. It is a crying shame the previous chairman and chief executive were so inefficient and stayed too long. Let's hope Ms Grimes can now work a miracle.

SAY NO TO TRACK: I would like to remind people living near the Longlands area of Sidcup and Bromley, to say goodbye to their gardens, because if the go-ahead is given to the buggy race track at Flamingo Park, sitting outside or opening your windows will be a thing of the past. Still, if someone is making fat profits, what does the peace of a few thousand residents matter? Will we qualify for a lower council tax when the value of our homes plummet?

SAD NEWS: As a Radio 4 listener, I was saddened to hear of the death of Linda Smith. She was one of the most entertaining people on various humorous radio shows. She was born and educated in Erith but, sadly, she showed no affection for the place. She once said Erith was not twinned with any other town but had a suicide pact with Dagenham. In spite of this she will be greatly missed.
