IT SEEMS our council is so intent on raising revenue it keeps thinking of new ways to obtain funds.
My wife parked in the disabled car park by Asda the other week and returned to find she had a parking ticket.
This car park is for disabled drivers only and she had displayed her disabled badge correctly.
Because my wife has had one replacement knee operation and has arthritis in the other knee, she needs to be able to open her door fully to get out of the car.
By leaving herself enough room to do so unbeknown to her the nearside wheels were just on the crosshatched area of the bay.
She appealed but to no avail and had to pay the £40 fine.
She was told "When parking in a marked parking bay, the vehicle must be positioned so none of the wheels are outside the markings.
"If there is insufficient space for the vehicle to park within the bay then the vehicle may not park in this bay".
In my wife's case, there was room to park in the bay and she was not causing an obstruction or blocking any other bays.
But it still cost her £40 to park in one of our wonderful council's disabled car parks.
