I WOULD like to warn people who are thinking of having a kerb cross-over put in front of their house in the Bexley area.

I contacted the council late September requesting the job to be done.

I then realised the lamppost would have to be moved and agreed with the council officer on the new position for it.

By then, we were in October and the price had been agreed.

I did think the price was excessive but the job had to be done as we are pensioners and my wife is partly disabled.

The men from the power company arrived to move the lamppost.

I told them they had put it in the wrong place, it made no difference to them and off they went.

After a number of phone calls to the council, they admitted it was in the wrong place, so they came back and moved it.

When it was mentioned it could cost me more money, I contacted Councillor Ailenn Beckwith, who sorted it all out for us, for which I am very grateful.

I am wondering if council leader Councillor Chris Ball could find the time between having his picture taken for the papers, to look into the incompetence of this department and put it right.

I think I would have got a better result if I had Bob the Builder do the job.
