IWOULD like to express my appreciation and gratitude to everyone involved in making my visit to Crayford Town Hall such a memorable and happy occasion.

I attended the Try Angle Awards on February 23 to celebrate the achievements of young people in the borough.

My grandson had been nominated by someone, which came as a complete surprise to us all.

He was shortlisted and received the award for Services to the Community.

The presentations were made by the Bexley Mayor Councillor John Shepheard and the Bexley Council leader Councillor Chris Ball.

In a day and age when one youngster can make headline news for something dreadful which they have done, what a pleasant change it was to attend an event where all those there were a pleasure to be with.

Their applause for people they did not know was as great as for their own group.

And their achievements gave everyone something to think about.

I would also like to thank the people who made the evening possible, and so enjoyable, working quietly behind the scenes to create such a grand evening.

Having been a victim of an unprovoked arson attack, I am well aware of the bad element in society.

But such evil deeds of the minority are far surpassed by a memorable event such as the Try Angle Awards.

Thank you all, youngsters, leaders, individuals and organisations for a more pleasant lasting memory in my life.
