I FOUND a lump in my breast in early December and my GP referred me to Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup.
Two weeks later, I went to the Kent Women's Wing, 18 years to the day I gave birth to our eldest daughter, Sarah.
The clinic I attended provided a fast-track service, which in my case included a mammogram, a scan and a biopsy.
Later the same day, when my pathology results were ready, I had an appointment to see Mr Rick Reyes, the consultant breast and general surgeon, so an initial diagnosis could be given.
Mr Reyes explained cancer cells had been found in my biopsy and we discussed my treatment.
Just after my 51st birthday, I had surgery on Friday, January 13. No, I am not superstitious!.
Mr Reyes and his colleagues made a first-class job of my surgery, for which I am very grateful.
The breast care nurses Gillian, Claire and Anne have also been very supportive and compassionate.
I was so impressed with the fast-track service before my diagnosis and the wonderful surgeon, hospital staff and the marvellous breast care nurses, I have no hesitation in recommending them to other breast cancer patients.
