DEBATE NEEDED: It was interesting reading Mr Raval's letter Be Proud Of Diverse Faith (News Shopper, February 22). I agree with the writer the cartoons were distasteful but so was the march in London with its banners calling for bloodshed. No English papers reproduced the cartoons so surely the ferocity shown by the marchers was uncalled for? Strangely, no arrests were made. Mr Raval goes on to say the solution is not censorship or violence but debate. However, is it possible to debate without being labelled racist? I was taught from an early age to obey the law, learn the history of the country and to integrate. I do not know if Mr Raval is aware of the survey which found 40 per cent of British Muslims want Sharia law introduced in this country. This can hardly be called integration.

WALLET RETURNED: I would like to express my thanks to the kind person who hand- delivered my lost wallet to me. I wasn't in when they came and found it on the mat. Unfortunately I could not thank them personally and they left no contact details with the wallet so I hope they will read this. I lost the wallet in Glyndon Road, Bexleyheath, on February 21, while collecting mail from the post office depot. There was £40 inside at the time, which of course was no longer there, but at least everything else was present. I never expected to see anything of it again. I am grateful to this good Samaritan for restoring my faith in people.

GREAT HELP: We myself included are so often critical of teenagers today so it is nice to be able to report a positive experience. On February 8, while walking in Parkview Road, Welling, near the gates of Danson Park, I twisted my ankle, fell and could not get up. I used my mobile phone to call an ambulance. Four teenage schoolgirls approached to ask if I was hurt and asked if I would like them to stay until an ambulance arrived. I gratefully accepted their offer of company. Hopefully they or their parents and friends will read this and pass on my thanks for their kindness. I do not know which school or college they attended.
