I APPLAUD the letter from W J Beazley, Good Games, in support of the London Olympics (News Shopper, February 22).

It is refreshing to hear someone in favour of the Olympics who does not mind helping with a financial contribution.

I for one will be celebrating with W J Beazley when the Olympics finally get to London.

To all the people who do not want to pay for the Games, look at how the public responds to the Tour de France starting in London next year. The Olympics will be celebrated on a massively larger scale.

Get behind the UK and support something positive people will be able to talk about for years to come.

Manchester did not ask for the rest of the UK to help pay for the Commonwealth Games so why should London be treated differently?
