MORE SCHOOLS: Gravesham Friends of the Earth object to the sale of the Southfields School site, Gravesend, for housing development. Increasing the population and closing schools is unsustainable. The theory is because of the trend towards more single-people households, births will decrease, meaning we will need fewer schools, is a fallacy. Ninety per cent of single women are mums and who knows, how many single dads are there? We need more smaller school so pupils are within walking distance of them. This would also improve the quality of life for everyone by reducing traffic near school premises. What do prospective parliamentary candidates think about this?

MY FAVOURITE SISTER: Stand up Sister Julie and her wonderful staff of nurses. Give yourselves a pat on the back. In the four weeks I spent at Palm Ward, Darent Valley Hospital, nothing was too much for those girls, as well as Mark and meal lady Mel. John, Eric, Dusty, Bert and the other four Georges would also like to say thanks.

NO MRS T, TONY: Through the local press we learn president' Blair was parachuted into Dartford to attend one of his contrived photoshoots, in front of a hand-picked few of ardent Labour supporters. I realise, of course, the need for security and the fact he is in danger from terrorists as we all are, but this is a direct result of his own policies. During her years in the top job, Margaret Thatcher visited Dartford. Everybody knew in advance and those who wished to demonstrate could do so. Whether you loved or loathed her, she had the courage to face the people. We are not falling for American-style politics, Mr Blair.

Cllr Mike Tibby New England Party Member Littlebrook Ward

GREAT HOSPITAL: When my turn came for a new knee joint at Darent Valley Hospital, I couldn't praise the nurses and staff of Maple ward enough. During my stay I was made comfortable before and after the operation which, incidentally, was performed by a first-class team in theatre and was a great success.

HARRY OK BY ME: Regarding Prince Harry and the swastika. I cannot understand the fuss. It was a fancy dress party and we all enjoyed 'Allo 'Allo didn't we?
