I was dismayed to read the “star” letter regarding older people shopping at times apparently inconvenient to others.
Perhaps your reader is unaware that many older people are busy during the day making significant contributions to society and to the economy as employees, unpaid carers, childminders and babysitters, volunteers; and generally going about their business like everyone else.
To propose that anyone should be subject to a curfew and banned from shops for someone else’s convenience is to expose a woeful lack of knowledge and recognition of the value of all older people as citizens and contributors to society
