I feel complelled to respond to the arrogant and rude individual who wrote about the 'Blue Rinse Brigade'.
I write as a 67 year old nurse, lucky enough to be working as I am still needed and enjoy it, and on behalf of my husband and all other over 65s doing worthwhile jobs.
Many over 65s are not as lucky as myself and have to survive on a small pension, and may well have to share a pot of tea and scone with four others.
Don't forget, you also have to get old and don't know what's in store for you.
What's happened to respect? Other societies value their elderly and don't see them as nuisances, as you do.
Just to remind you of the old duffers who look after their grandchildren free, so that the likes of you can work and have money for shopping, coffees and visits to Thorntons.
Like me, they are tied up Monday to Friday. So what, they have earned their right to travel, shop and do whatever they wish when they feel like it.
Us pensioners have worked hard and paid our way, unlike others in society that I could mention.
As for this old duffer, I intend shopping every Saturday, with as many of my friends and allies as I can muster.
Let us know where you shop. You'll recognise us by our blonde bobs and tracksuits, as we will also all have come from the gym.
Happy shopping !
