MY PARTNER and I requested permission from Lewisham Shopping Centre to collect donations for Medical Aid for Palestinians, a charity long established in London.
We have seen a variety of charities represented in the centre.
But, we were shocked to be refused permission by the shopping centre management.
Their grounds were “it is political”.
I explained the charity is entirely involved in humanitarian work, distributing goods and medical aid.
Surely the people of Lewisham have a right to be given a chance to support, or not, as they choose, a charity dealing with medical aid for Palestinians?
