RECENTLY the juggernaut of Lewisham Council’s planning committee crashed into my life once again.

It feels like it is becoming a bit of a habit. I am now left with a car park in the garden next to mine, with little protection from it. We feel very exposed.

Our front garden is on the South Circular and unusable and our back garden is not wide.

So where does that leave us?

Well, if we want to use the garden we sit in a haze of pollution. Isn’t there something in European legislation about quiet and peaceful enjoyment of our properties?

This sort of thing is happening all over the country. Are we going to sit back and take it all?

We need to do something now. Both major political parties plan to loosen planning controls even further.

I guess they would say it is in the interests of the economy. But whose economy?

It certainly doesn’t feel like the little man gets any benefit at all.

The developer makes a packet and we are left diminished. Let’s stand up for ourselves.

The first thing I am going to do is to make a film documentary. If you have any planning stories or experiences please email them to me at anne-marie@ameg.org.uk This should kick things off. Anybody who would like to help with the campaign after the documentary has been made should email me so I can contact you. Let’s do it.
