RE: OAPs are forgotten citizens (Letters, May 28). I received a letter from Councillor Chris Ball which might explain why pensioners are forgotten.
To quote him: “Many pensioners are affluent and can accommodate the council tax rise and many pensioners, as well as other age groups, are less affected.
“For those on restricted incomes — especially state benefit or pensions — additional help is often available.” Cllr Ball forgets people who pay council tax do have brains. I have asked questions regarding our rise in council tax and feel we have been fobbed off time after time.
The council doesn’t give a hoot whether you are a pensioner or whether you are still out working. Its only interest is your money and taking more of it all the time.
