THIS is about the boys from St Columbas being “thugs” (Letters, May 28). Well I would just like to say to the “concerned parent” you have no idea what you are talking about.

You say your son goes to school in the borough and the streets surrounding that school have no problems. How do you know?

You also said the older boys pick on the younger ones. Well, again, how do you know? You seem to think the school is rough but there are schools which make ours look perfect.

You refer to “good Christian boys”. You should realise we are humans, not robots who pray every day just because we have a religion.

You go on to say: “If this is the benefit of being in a Catholic school, I am glad my son is not a Catholic.” Just because you think our school is bad, why should you blame the whole Catholic community?

There are 700 boys in our school. There will, of course, be the odd fight or argument.

If you are sticking up for your community you should be proud to reveal your name or are you afraid we violent thugs will retaliate?
