LOCAL CHOICE: The artist who should be designing the Angel of the South is a local man called Graham Hampsheir.
I have seen his work on angelofthesouth.co.uk
He has the potential, artistic flare and local knowledge for what should be an iconic structure.
Land Securities and Eurostar should have sought local artists. If this is the cream of artistic flair, the image of Kent, Ebbsfleet and in particular Dartford and Gravesham is damned.

TOWER: I must write about this horrible tower proposed for Gravesend.
Do we need it? I think not. Should it be built by the river taking away what river views we have left? I think not.
Why not build it on the former Lord Street multi-storey car park site? Councillor Mike Snelling would be able to gaze out of the town hall at it while the rest of us could at least retain some connection with the Thames.
