THANK you for the interesting story highlighting the risk of strokes (Simple Steps To Avoid Stroke Risk, News Shopper, May 21).
Stroke care has been noticeably missing from the recent discussions in stories about the proposed reorganisation of health facilities in our area.
If you suffer a stroke and have a CT scan within three hours, a specialist has an excellent chance of ensuring you make a very good recovery.
In London, there are few if any A&E departments with a CT scanner staffed 24 hours a day.
I believe we should properly staff and equip one or two A&E departments in south-east London to deal with strokes 24 hours a day.
In your story, Linda Reynolds had to wait 48 hours for a proper diagnosis. Mercifully, she has lived to tell the tale - not many people are so lucky.
