In response to Cllr Peter Craske and Louie French’s letter defending the proposed library redevelopment in Sidcup, I appreciate their intentions but am not sure that, in a time of austerity and escalating demand for council services, we should be investing in inessential projects.
Plus, I wonder if the councillors could personally guarantee that, should this development come to pass, the library won't then be closed (or handed over to volunteers as happened with Blackfen) a few years down the line if the scheme is not a success?
I still believe the best option would be to retain the purpose-built library we already have and enjoy using.
