Cash-strapped councils are having to make year-on-year savings, which is even more reason to ensure that every penny they do spend is spent wisely.
That's why I'm calling on Bexley Council to introduce measures to ensure that the money it spends doesn't go in to the hands of people who would profit out of the misery that is human slavery.
Councillors need to look at how urgently they can address modern slavery in the way the council buys goods and services.
