I would like to support the Get Into Teaching campaign to encourage students and parents to consider the support teachers give to help students succeed.

As teachers, we get to witness and celebrate the opportunities the results provide for the young people we work with. Seeing the look on their faces when they open their results brings such a sense of pride for the teachers who have encouraged, inspired and supported each pupil along their own journey.

However, teaching is about more than results on paper – it’s about shaping and nurturing the pupils we teach, and often this extends the parameters of the classroom. It is a job that changes lives.

I would be lying if I said that teaching was easy- it can be frustrating and emotionally and mentally demanding. However, for all the difficult moments, it is a real joy to make a difference in the lives of young people and is an amazingly rewarding career. Who wouldn’t consider it?
